HOLOPIS.COM, JAKARTA – Political analyst Hari Purwanto, executive director of the People’s Democracy Studies (SDR), said President Prabowo Subianto has begun demonstrating his commitment to combating corruption by allowing investigations to proceed against senior government officials and law enforcement figures.
“The public is increasingly convinced that President Prabowo is serious about his pledge to fight corruption, including his statement that ‘a fish rots from the head.’ He is proving that commitment through two major corruption cases currently unfolding,” Hari said, Holopis.com, reported, Monday (13/7).
Hari said the two high-profile investigations involve alleged corruption at the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) and the case involving former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes Febrie Adriansyah.
According to him, both cases have become important tests of the government’s credibility and its commitment to bureaucratic reform and impartial law enforcement.
He said the National Nutrition Agency case is particularly significant because it concerns one of Prabowo’s flagship policy programs, while the investigation involving Febrie demonstrates that law enforcement should apply equally to everyone.
Hari compared Prabowo’s leadership to that of a ship captain navigating rough seas, arguing that major challenges provide an opportunity to demonstrate strong leadership.
“A strong captain is not shaped by calm seas, but by waves and storms,” he said.
Hari also praised what he described as Prabowo’s commitment to operating within Indonesia’s constitutional framework despite mounting political pressure.
He warned against individuals attempting to exploit their perceived closeness to the president for personal gain.
In his closing remarks, Hari called on the public to continue monitoring both investigations to ensure they are conducted transparently and accountably.
He said public participation would be essential in supporting Indonesia’s broader efforts to combat corruption.
