HOLOPIS.COM, JAKARTA – Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan was hospitalized on Friday after suddenly falling ill while at City Hall, prompting officials to cancel or postpone parts of his official schedule.
“I received information that the mayor is ill and is currently being taken to the hospital. I do not yet know what illness he is suffering from. We are waiting for information from the doctors treating him,” Bandung Communications and Information Agency Head Henryco Arie Sapiie said, Holopis.com reported, Saturday (11/7).
Farhan reportedly began vomiting before being transported by ambulance from Bandung City Hall to a local hospital on Friday afternoon.
According to officials, the mayor had been carrying out his official duties and meeting with several guests before his condition suddenly deteriorated.An ambulance from Bandung City Regional General Hospital arrived at City Hall at around 4:10 p.m. local time.
Video from the scene showed Farhan being wheeled on a stretcher from the mayor’s office to the ambulance while receiving intravenous fluids and oxygen support.
Henryco confirmed that Farhan was undergoing medical treatment but said authorities had not yet received detailed information about his condition or its cause. He called on the public to pray for the mayor’s speedy recovery.
Before falling ill, Farhan had been scheduled to attend several official events, including a Bandung City Council plenary session, meetings with foreign guests, and the Asia Africa 2026 Gala Dinner at City Hall.
City officials have not yet confirmed whether those events will proceed as scheduled or be handled by other officials.Henryco said any decisions regarding the mayor’s official agenda would depend on medical updates from the treating doctors. As of publication, the hospital had not released an official statement regarding Farhan’s diagnosis or current condition.
