HOLOPIS.COM, JAKARTA – Indonesian constitutional law expert Rullyandi has expressed support for President Prabowo Subianto’s decision to transfer the handling of three high-profile corruption cases involving the coal sector, PT ASABRI, and PT Krakatau Steel from the National Police to the Attorney General’s Office.
“The decision reflects firm leadership and an effort to ensure that law enforcement proceeds in accordance with the legal framework,” Rullyandi said, Holopis.com reported, Monday (13/7).
Rullyandi said the move, which includes the case involving former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes Febrie Adriansyah, could reduce tensions between law enforcement agencies and help ensure a smoother legal process.
According to him, centralizing the investigations under a single institution could make the cases more effective, objective, and transparent.
He also argued that the decision demonstrates the government’s effort to strengthen coordination among law enforcement agencies while limiting public speculation surrounding the investigations.
Rullyandi said the policy could also help maintain political stability while supporting Indonesia’s broader anti-corruption agenda.
Meanwhile, Commission III of Indonesia’s House of Representatives, which oversees legal affairs, has pledged to closely monitor the investigations.
Commission III Chairman Habiburokhman said lawmakers want to ensure that the cases are handled in accordance with the law and concluded transparently.
“We want to ensure that the cases, which have attracted significant public attention, proceed within the legal framework and are fully investigated,” Habiburokhman said during a press conference at the Attorney General’s Office on Saturday.
He added that Parliament also wants to prevent institutional friction among law enforcement agencies, emphasizing that the investigations concern individuals rather than the institutions they once served.
Habiburokhman called on all law enforcement agencies to maintain professionalism and coordination throughout the investigation process.
