JAKARTA, HOLOPIS.COM – Indonesian Association of Small Businesses, Microenterprises and Street Vendors (APKLI MP) Chairman Ali Mahsun ATMO has urged law enforcement authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into those allegedly behind the tapping of President Prabowo Subianto’s phone.
He went further by demanding the death penalty for the person he described as the mastermind behind the alleged attempt to tap the president’s communications. Ali argued that the alleged tapping of the head of state was not merely a legal violation but also posed a threat to the security and sovereignty of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
“The mastermind behind the alleged plot to tap President Prabowo Subianto’s phone must be thoroughly investigated and sentenced to death. Why? Because they are the root cause of the people’s economy and the national economy becoming stagnant, unstable and even on the verge of collapse. More importantly, this has threatened the security and sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia,” Ali said in a statement, reported by Holopis.com, Sunday (8/11).
Ali linked national stability to the sustainability of the people’s economy, particularly small businesses, microenterprises and street vendors. He argued that economic activities depend on a strong security and political environment.
He said that over the past two years, small business owners and street vendors had faced fluctuating economic conditions. Their sales and incomes had reportedly continued to decline in several strategic economic areas and centers of local commerce.
Ali said the situation should be a serious concern for the government. In his view, national instability could further worsen the economic conditions of low-income communities, whose livelihoods depend heavily on daily trading activities. Amid these challenges, Ali also reaffirmed APKLI MP’s support for President Prabowo’s efforts to crack down on those he described as collaborators exploiting Indonesia’s natural resources for personal gain.
“Natural resource wealth should serve as a guarantee that the people and this nation can live in prosperity and enjoy social justice,” added Ali, an immunology specialist who graduated from Brawijaya University in Malang and the University of Indonesia’s Faculty of Medicine in Jakarta.
Ali made the remarks during the inauguration of 125 members of APKLI MP’s central executive board for the 2026–2031 term at Gedung Joang 45 in Menteng, Jakarta, on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2026. At the event, Ali introduced the new leadership team under the name Kabinet Revolusi Ekonomi Rakyat Indonesia (Indonesian People’s Economic Revolution Cabinet).
The organization also declared its commitment to supporting five flagship programs introduced by President Prabowo: the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program, Red-and-White Village/Urban Ward Cooperatives (KDKMP), Red-and-White Fishermen’s Villages (KNMP), People’s Schools and People’s Housing.
APKLI MP also distributed assistance through its Sedekah Keselamatan Nusantara Indonesia (Indonesia Archipelago Safety Charity) program. The initiative provides scholarships for children of small business owners and street vendors, business capital assistance for mobile coffee sellers and street vendors, as well as aid for orphans.
