JAKARTA, HOLOPIS.COM – Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has responded to the Constitutional Court (MK) ruling on the 2024 Presidential and Vice Presidential Election Results Dispute (PHPU). The Constitutional Court delivered its ruling in case No. 01/PHPU.PRES-XXIV/2026 concerning the 2024 Presidential and Vice Presidential Election Results Dispute on Tuesday evening (Oct. 6).
In its ruling, the court declared the petition inadmissible. One of the issues raised by the petitioners concerned the validity of Gibran’s educational qualifications when he registered as a vice presidential candidate.
Gibran stressed that all stages and legal proceedings before the Constitutional Court must be respected. He said he would remain focused on carrying out his duties as vice president, particularly in supporting the government’s agenda and programs set by President Prabowo Subianto.
“Thank you. We respect all the stages and processes at the Constitutional Court. Most importantly, I will continue to focus on working for the people and on achieving the vision, mission and programs of the President, who is our leader,” Gibran said on Wednesday (Oct. 7), Holopis.com reported, Thursday (8/10).
Although the court did not accept the petition, the Constitutional Court stated in its legal considerations that it did not find convincing evidence regarding Gibran’s completion of high school-level education when he registered as a vice presidential candidate.
Gibran said it would have been impossible for him to pursue a bachelor’s degree if he had not completed high school or its equivalent.
“If I had not graduated from high school, I obviously could not have gone to college. I also completed my bachelor’s degree in Singapore,” he explained.
Regarding the Constitutional Court’s remarks about the document used as evidence of his completion of high school-level education or its equivalent, Gibran said he would follow up on the matter.
“Yes, we will follow that up soon,” he concluded.
