HOLOPIS.COM, JAKARTA – Indonesian authorities have confirmed that the 65 sacks of narcotics seized in waters near Batam contained approximately 1.3 metric tons of ketamine, following laboratory testing and digital forensic analysis.
The evidence was transported to the Batam Customs Laboratory, where investigators determined that the confiscated substance was ketamine, a Schedule I psychotropic drug under Indonesian law. A joint investigation by the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) found a total of 65 sacks weighing around 1.3 tons.
Based on an estimated street price ranging from Rp1.5 million to Rp3.5 million per gram, authorities estimate the shipment could have had a market value of around Rp2 trillion.
Officials warned that ketamine abuse can cause hallucinations, organ damage, addiction, and other serious health risks, while its possession and distribution constitute criminal offenses under Indonesian law.
The seized narcotics and the vessel’s crew members will be handed over to the relevant authorities for further legal proceedings, while investigators continue to trace the wider trafficking network.

Speaking at a press conference in Batam, Commander of the Indonesian Fleet Command (Koarmada RI) Vice Adm. Denih Hendrata said the operation demonstrates the implementation of President Prabowo Subianto’s Seventh Asta Cita priority, which focuses on strengthening efforts to combat corruption and narcotics.
“This operation is a concrete implementation of President Prabowo Subianto’s Seventh Asta Cita, namely strengthening the prevention and eradication of corruption and narcotics. The Indonesian Navy remains committed to safeguarding Indonesia’s territorial waters against all forms of illegal activities,” Denih said, as reported by Holopis.com, Sunday (9/8).
