HOLOPIS.COM, JAKARTA – Applying for and printing a Police Clearance Certificate (SKCK) in Indonesia may soon no longer involve long queues at police stations. The Indonesian National Police (Polri) is preparing dedicated SKCK printing kiosks that will allow applicants to print the document independently.
The facility is being developed by the Police Intelligence and Security Agency (Baintelkam) as part of efforts to reduce direct interaction between applicants and officers while preventing illegal fees.
Police Brig. Gen. Achmad Ibrahim, a Level II Principal Police Intelligence Agent at Baintelkam, said a fully online SKCK service has actually been available since 2025. The service is integrated into the Polri Super App, allowing applicants to complete the application process digitally.
However, Achmad said the digitalization effort was not simply about moving the SKCK application process to an app. Another objective is to reduce face-to-face interactions between the public and police officers.
“We want to eliminate illegal fees and other such practices because one of the factors that allows them to occur is interaction between police officers and applicants,” he said, as quoted by Holopis.com, Thursday (24/9).
Polri is therefore preparing dedicated facilities where applicants can collect or print physical copies of their SKCK. The mechanism is relatively simple.
After completing their information through the online SKCK service, applicants will receive a barcode. The barcode can then be scanned at the designated printing kiosk.
Under the system, applicants will no longer need to return to a police station simply to obtain a physical copy of their SKCK.
“There is no need to come to a police station. They only need to complete the application through the online SKCK service and obtain the barcode. The barcode can then be scanned at the kiosk, and the SKCK will be printed,” he explained.
The system is expected to make document collection more convenient while reducing direct contact between applicants and police officers.
10 Machines to Be Tested in Jakarta
As an initial step, Polri will not immediately implement the system nationwide. Baintelkam plans to test 10 SKCK printing kiosks in Jakarta in 2027. The trial is intended to ensure that various technical aspects operate properly, including internet connectivity and infrastructure readiness.
“We are currently focusing on Jakarta because the system is still in the testing phase, as it involves internet connectivity and other factors. We are still considering the infrastructure and other requirements. Once everything is covered, we hope public services can be delivered quickly,” he said.
If the trial proceeds as planned and the supporting infrastructure is deemed ready, the facilities are expected to be expanded to other regions.
Targeting Faster Service
The SKCK printing kiosks are part of Polri’s efforts to provide more convenient services with minimal face-to-face interaction. Applicants will eventually be able to complete the application process digitally and then use their barcode to print the SKCK at an available kiosk.
However, wider implementation will depend on the results of the Jakarta trial and the readiness of supporting networks and infrastructure. Once the system is fully ready, Polri hopes SKCK services can be delivered more quickly while reducing opportunities for illegal fees.
