Government Considers Trade-In Scheme
Prabowo also said the government was considering a trade-in scheme for people who already own gasoline-powered motorcycles.
Under the proposed mechanism, owners could hand over their old motorcycles and receive new electric motorcycles by paying an additional amount.
“But don’t worry. We will have schemes for those who already own gasoline motorcycles. We will think about a trade-in scheme: you hand over your old motorcycle, get a new one, and pay a little extra. For the TNI and Polri, they may not have to pay at all,” Prabowo said.
The planned incentives are intended to accelerate the adoption of electric motorcycles while supporting the development of Indonesia’s domestic electric vehicle industry. Recent reporting on the launch also confirmed that the government is considering lower financing costs and zero-down-payment schemes to encourage purchases.
