HOLOPIS.COM, JAKARTA – Indonesia is accelerating its nationwide education digitalization program, with nearly 289,000 schools and educational institutions receiving digital learning equipment as the government pushes to modernize classrooms and expand access to quality education across the country.

The initiative is one of the flagship education programs under President Prabowo Subianto’s administration. Beyond distributing digital devices, the government is also investing in internet connectivity, electricity, teacher training, and digital learning content to support classroom instruction.

Head of the Government Communications Office Muhammad Qodari said the government aims to build a complete digital learning ecosystem rather than simply supplying technology.

“The program has reached hundreds of thousands of educational institutions across Indonesia,” Qodari said during a press conference, according to Holopis.com, Thursday (2/7).

According to the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, 288,865 educational institutions received Interactive Digital Boards (IDBs) along with supporting equipment, including laptops and external hard drives, throughout 2025.

The government also expanded internet access to 8,265 schools, while 2,389 educational institutions received electricity support to help ensure digital learning can be implemented in areas with limited infrastructure.

In addition, 33,156 teachers and education personnel have completed training on digital learning, and the ministry has developed 2,856 digital learning resources to support classroom instruction. The government is continuing the procurement of Interactive Digital Boards in 2026 while expanding technical assistance to help schools maximize the use of the equipment.

Initial evaluations by the ministry indicate that students have responded positively to the program.

“About 99.5 percent of students said lessons using Interactive Digital Boards were more engaging, while 98 percent said they understood classroom materials better,” he said.

Qodari added that teachers have also begun adopting more interactive teaching methods, making classroom activities more engaging and encouraging greater student participation.

Remote Communities Remain a Priority

The government said it wants to ensure the benefits of digital learning are not limited to schools in major cities. As a result, the program continues to prioritize Indonesia’s 3T regions, an official designation for underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost areas.

As of June 29, 2026, 13,838 schools in 3T regions had benefited from the Digital Learning Program during 2025, according to ministry data.

The program has reached schools ranging from early childhood education centers and elementary schools to vocational schools, special education institutions, community learning centers, and other non-formal education providers.

Beneficiary schools are located across several provinces, including Maluku, North Maluku, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, Papua and its newly established provinces, Central Sulawesi, South Sumatra, North Sumatra, and Lampung.

For context, in 2026, the government plans to expand the initiative beyond the distribution of digital boards by strengthening electricity and internet infrastructure, improving teachers’ digital skills, developing more digital learning content, integrating the national Rumah Pendidikan platform with Learning Management Systems (LMS), and providing continued assistance to schools to help them fully integrate technology into teaching and learning.
