Former Indonesian Deputy House Speaker Rachmat Gobel Dies at 63

HOLOPIS.COM, JAKARTARachmat Gobel, a prominent Indonesian businessman and former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, died on Friday at the age of 63. His family announced the news in a statement posted on his official Instagram account, Holopis reported.

Gobel died at Brawijaya Hospital in South Jakarta at 3:20 a.m. local time, according to the statement.

“With deep sorrow and sincere acceptance, we, the family of Mr. Rachmat Gobel, announce that he passed away on Friday at 3:20 a.m. at Brawijaya Hospital in Tebet, South Jakarta,” the family said, reported, Friday (10/7).

The news was also confirmed by Nasihin Masha, Gobel’s special staff member, who said the former lawmaker from the NasDem Party had not complained of any serious illness and had continued his daily activities as usual before his passing.

According to information obtained by Holopis, Gobel’s body is lying in state at the family’s residence on Jl. Prof. Dr. Soepomo No. 55A, South Jakarta. He is expected to be flown to Gorontalo, his hometown, where he will be laid to rest.

The family asked the public to pray for Gobel, expressing hope that his shortcomings would be forgiven and that his good deeds would be accepted by Allah.
